Think of the nicest thing someone ever said to you. Write a poem about a rainy day and something
flooding. End the poem with the good thing someone said.

“you deserve love” said BJ, my best friend.

I remember the rain, like tears from my cheeks as

the vicious words poured from the lion’s den

liars they all are, but privileged beings acting out

deserve love, even the ones who

hurt me, deeply cut with words

the sharpest tool in the box

the flood gates open as she breaks down

to her knees, the tears, the rain

in harmony

all the fighting she does, golden medals around

the neck, blood stained-feet

yet do they ask for more, poor

sacrificial lamb of the family, “this is life” they said

the only hope, a friend rips through their barriers

of words, dear girl

you are weak, nor are you poor

throughout it all

“you deserve love”

the river runs cold, halting stop

she listens…
